SCOOP Aid Services

SCOOP Aid Ltd delivers an advice, information and support service for lone parents at all stages of the lone parent cycle.

Below is an overview of our services:

 Welfare Rights

Our Welfare Rights Service offers:

  •   A Welfare Rights advice and advocacy service
  •  Information about benefits, housing, tax credits, children's disability payments etc.
  •  Representations at tribunals where necessary, but always seeks to resolve issues where possible.
  •  Child support advice, information, advocacy, lobbying for Parents with Care only.

 Our Welfare Rights service is accredited through the Community Legal Service Quality Mark.

Training

We deliver various accredited courses such as:

  •  Personal Development Programme - a confidence building course which helps to address the chronic low self-esteem which is experienced by many lone parents.
  •  Counselling Awareness - a course for parents who have completed our Personal Development Programme and want to do more. This course introduces the skills and basic approaches utilised in 'helping roles' in the community.
  •  Employability

 We also run 'Personal Development in Parenting' programmes for pregnant teenagers and young mums.

We have recently developed and delivered a course for young dads/dads-to-be;

Dads Only - a brand, new exciting course for young dads and dads-to-be under the age of 20 which gives them skills to enable them to be good parents.

Support

Delivered on a home visiting basis, this service offers general support, advice and guidance regarding training and education opportunities, plus childcare and welfare provision (e.g. access to family holidays, funding for essential household goods etc.) We also help with Job Search and in-work support and also offer better-off calculations for lone parents who want to move into education. Our three Support Workers are all qualified to level 3 in IAG and our service is accredited through the Matrix Standard.
