SCOOP Aid Ltd is a locally based charity with strong grass roots links and over 30 years’ experience of delivering advice, information, support and training for lone parents.

We are managed by a Board of lone parents and have developed our services directly in response to the needs of our clients.

We are a city wide organisation recognising that lone parents live in all areas of Sheffield.

Our philosophy is one of working with individuals to build confidence, raise self-esteem and awareness and encourage and support lone parents to move on in their lives.

We work in partnership with a wide range of organisations from across all sectors and contribute significantly to agendas of social inclusion, lifelong learning, welfare to work and reducing child poverty. Our operational partnerships extend across South Yorkshire and our input into policy development is at both local and national levels.

SCOOP Aid Ltd delivers the only holistic, lone parent specific service in the city. We are the only organisation with lone parents at the centre of our provision.

The growth in lone parenthood is a well established trend and unlikely to reverse in the foreseeable future. Over the past 10 years the number of lone parent households in Sheffield has risen from 7,993 to 13,504 – a quarter of all households with children living in the city. Over half of these lone parents are economically inactive and living on benefits.

SCOOP Aid Ltd aims to work in partnership with other agencies bringing added value by delivering a truly ‘joined up’ service for the benefit of lone parents in Sheffield.
